1940〜50年代頃と推定される、フランスのBarbe Bleue製コットンツイル・メカニックジャケット。
内側には、人物と工場をモチーフにした古い「Barbe Bleue」の織りネームが残されています。
高密度に織られたブルーのコットンツイル生地を使用。
長年の着用と経年によって全体に柔らかなフェードが生まれ、濃淡のあるブルーへと変化しています。
フロントは4ボタン仕様。
左右にフラップ付きの大型胸ポケットを配置し、裾には金属製バックルを用いたアジャスターベルトを備えています。
背面にも左右それぞれにアジャスターが設けられた、特徴的な構造です。
一般的なフレンチワークジャケットに比べて着丈が短く、腰ポケットを省いたコンパクトなブルゾン型。
機械工や工場作業員向けのワークウェアを思わせる、機能性を重視したディテールが随所に見られます。
短い着丈と直線的なシルエット、左右対称に配置された胸ポケットによって、現代のウェアにも通じるバランスを持った一着です。

Mid-20th Century French Barbe Bleue Cotton Twill Mechanic Jacket
Faded Blue
A vintage French cotton twill mechanic jacket by Barbe Bleue, dating from around the mid-20th century, likely the 1940s–50s.
The original woven “Barbe Bleue” label remains inside, featuring a distinctive illustration of a figure against an industrial background.
Constructed from densely woven blue cotton twill.
Years of wear and natural aging have softened the fabric and created subtle tonal variation throughout, resulting in a beautifully faded blue surface.
The jacket features a four-button front with two large symmetrical flap chest pockets.
A distinctive metal buckle adjuster is positioned at the front hem, while additional adjusters at the back allow the waist to be shaped.
Compared with conventional French work jackets, this example has an unusually short, compact blouson-style silhouette without lower patch pockets.
Its functional construction and distinctive details suggest a garment designed for mechanical or industrial work.
The short length, straight silhouette and symmetrical chest pockets give the jacket a remarkably balanced appearance that remains relevant to contemporary clothing.
