1950〜60年代、インド北部・チャンディーガル。 ル・コルビュジエが都市計画を手がけたこの地で、ピエール・ジャンヌレは行政機関や教育施設のための家具を多数デザインしました。
本作「Connect Back Chair」は、1955〜56年頃に製作されたモデルとされ、 構造の純度、控えめなライン、そして職人の手がもたらす温度が、静かに佇む一脚です。
当時のチーク材ならではの深い質感と、長い年月を経た表情は、 ジャンヌレ作品の魅力を端的に物語っています。

In the 1950s and 60s, the city of Chandigarh in northern India was shaped under the urban vision of Le Corbusier. Within this monumental project, Pierre Jeanneret designed an extensive body of furniture for government institutions, universities, and civic spaces.

The Connect Back Chair, attributed to c.1955–56, is a refined example of Jeanneret’s vocabulary— a composition of pure structure, restrained lines, and the calm presence of handcrafted workmanship.

Its original teak, enriched by decades of use and environment, reveals a depth of patina that has become synonymous with Jeanneret’s most celebrated pieces. Today, the chair stands as a highly sought-after work among galleries and collectors worldwide.
